On the Yucatan peninsula Cancun is a wonderful choice for white sand beaches, turquoise water and every activity imaginable. Cancun is a great spot for young adults and singles!

A few miles south of Cancun is the area known as Riviera Maya which includes Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Here the pace slows down, the crowds thin out and you’ll find an excellent collection of beachfront all inclusive resorts for families & adults. You can swim with the dolphins, take a ferry to Cozumel, explore an eco park, float an underground river, explore nearby Mayan ruins or just be lazy. It’s all there!

The Pacific coast of Mexico is best known for Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo and Manzanillo. Los Cabos is on the tip of the Baja Peninsula a short flight south of Los Angeles and encompasses the towns of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose Del Cabo and the 30 mile stretch between known as “the corridor”. Cabo is home to 5 star resorts, prestigious golf courses, luxury spas and intimate hideaways ideal for a honeymoon or pampering getaway. There are also a few excellent oceanfront resorts suited to families and more moderate budgets. However many of Cabo’s lovely beaches are unsafe for ocean swimming, so watch for caution flags and beware!

A little farther south is the vibrant Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta. Here you’ll find the ingredients needed for a great vacation combined with authentic Mexico. The Malencon is the seaside boardwalk in downtown Vallarta that comes alive at sunset with musicians, artists and street performers. Most evenings you’ll find locals pushing a stroller, couples walking hand in hand and tourists of all ages out to enjoy the free entertainment and beautiful views.

Puerto Vallarta’s “Old Town” has narrow cobblestone streets, small restaurants & family run shops with handmade leather, silver and pottery. “New Town” is a cosmopolitan mix with everything from McDonalds to Gucci! Accommodations in Puerto Vallarta run the gamut and you can stay near the action downtown, by the Marina, on tranquil bays or long stretches of beach in Nuevo Vallarta, north of town.

Ixtapa/Zihuatenajo is a wonderful choice for return travelers seeking a new Mexican experience. Ixtapa has a half dozen high rise hotels wrapped around a crescent shape beach with calm water, safe swimming, parasailing and water sports. Zihuatenajo is the Mexican village where you’ll find the locals, fishing boats and a few very special boutique hotels such as Villa del Sol and Casa que Canta. The two areas are served by the same airport and are easily connected by taxi.

Manzanillo is another new destination with an emphasis on golf courses and oceanfront swimming pools. Beaches and water sports are limited.
